  1. I have a video in .avi format and it is 129 minutes long! When I try to burn it to a DVD, it tells me that the file is too big because the DVD is only 120 minutes. How can I convert/compress my avi to fit on a DVD as a DVD Video?

    Thanks

  2. Hi-

I have a video in .avi format and it is 129 minutes long! When I try to burn it to a DVD, it tells me that the file is too big because the DVD is only 120 minutes.

There's no such thing as a DVDR that holds only 120 minutes. It holds roughly 4.37 GB of data, and the amount of data you have is determined by the bitrate you set, not by the length of the video.

How can I convert/compress my avi to fit on a DVD as a DVD Video?

Encode your video with the proper bitrate. But since you haven't told us what you're using for this, not much more advice than that can be offered at the moment

  4. Thanks guys...I'm still new to this. At the moment I've only tried Nero Vision Express, which did the job for me in the past, now I have this film which (as Nero tells me) can't fit onto the DVD.

The actual file is only 1,3Gb, but when I import it into Nero it becomes almost 5.

So I'll give those 2 programs a shot.

    Thanks again
