I don't know what the problem is, but whats frustrating is it appears I'm making this far more difficult than it needs to be, simply because I can't seem to figure out, or find out, how to burn numerous WMV movie files, onto a blank DVD-R disc. To store them just as they are, so I can retrieve them, and play them back later as individual files.
What I've read however, states I can't burn WMV files straight to DVD.
Is that suggesting I can't burn them "as is" to play like a DVD movie, or that I can't even burn them as stored data files?? I presumed the latter, and as such, tried converting them, to results that have suggested the former.
Twice now, I've burned them, once as .nco files, and then as an Mpeg DVD Compilation, of which neither fits my needs.
Then I tried burning them simply using NeroBurning ROM, and received an error that read, "unexpected file format".
Personally, I think "propane" would be an unexpected format.
I'm using Nero Ultra Edition 6, and WinAVI
Any suggestions are appreciated.

ops
lots of trubble with nero in these forums
try something else to make your data disc -
So flame-on regarding Nero?
Or keep it, and burn with another interface? -
You should have no problems burning the files to a data CD using Nero. If you have the files on your hard drive(s), you can burn them to a data disc. There's nothing preventing WMV videos from being written to a data disc.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -

Thanks Ai Haibara. -
You can put just about anything you want on a DVD or CD data disc. Even with Nero Burning ROM.
Are you using CD-ROM (ISO) or DVD-ROM (ISO) format? Most other formats will try to re-encode your video files or refuse them. And some types of WMV may be DRM protected, which could cause a problem.

Argh. That's what I get for typing faster than my brain processes. No, you shouldn't have any problems burning the files to a data DVD, either.

Fortunately they're not DRM protected, and I generally burn DVD in (ISO) format, as I read its easier on the drive.
I'll occasionally burn CD's but usually only when transferring files to a machine without a DVD-ROM, and never really considered (ISO) for data, be it CD or DVD.
So, in that case, I suppose thats why its refusing them?
Is there a way to format these "individual" files as an ISO image, and yet be able to keep, and read as individual files? -
Thanks guys!
Didn't need heat after all,
just some light on the subject,
and a bit more elbow grease got it!
Highly appreciate the light!
