I am trying to burn a 700mb avi file to a DVD, to view on my DVD player. When I open the file in Nero, it tells me that the file is of too high a quality. Is there a way have the file fit the DVD, without sacrificing the quality? If so, what is the process?

    Thanks,

    JGM

over in the guides section to your left, and the Guide Forum (see main index) you will find many guides to encoding avi for DVD playback. You have not given much in the way of detail, however from what you have posted I will make the following assumptions (correct me if I am wrong).

    1. The video is a DVD of a movie converted to Divx/Xvid format and downloaded from the internet (700mb is the give away here)

    2. You are looking for a simple, no-thinking required process to convert. (Nero is the tell here)

If this is the case, I would suggest ConvertXtoDVD. It is much more reliable than Nero, especially where audio is concerned, and easily on par for quality.

Also, be prepared for the process to expose all the encoding flaws in your avi, even if you don't see them now (and if you don't, you aren't looking hard enough)
