  3. This could be a good topic for a poll -- how many folders full of bookmarks do you have?

Me, I have to scroll down sub-folders within folders to get to all of mine.

Although how many link to ghost sites ... now that would be an interesting experiment.

My Firefox has more than 30 folders full; there used to be utilities that'd check for active links- that would make a really handy Firefox add-on (if it would like work in the background putting lil tombstones on the dead links...)

Folders ? We don' need no steenkin' folders ! (circa 1948 movie-buff reference, so if you don't recognize it, you're immediately excused.) I've got several bookmark files that are pushing half a meg.. each at this point. (Don't even ask what percentage of those links have gone to 404-land by now !) I used to use a hierarchical tree-structured organizer for it, but that was on another platrform, and the program hasn't been supported in years. It did compile to HTML, though.

Not a bad idea. I haven't looked around to see if anyone has already thought of this -- or for a good Win-based bookmarks organizer that is free or cheap -- but you might want to start somewhere like this:

And there may be somewhere to post suggestions / requests.

Many of mine seem to expire between the time I mark them and the time I want them again. Too much changes online. The Internet will never replace a library.

    AM-DeadLink ... http://www.nonags.com/nonags/webt.html

3/4's of the way down the page ... supports ie , opera , netscape .

If you have a decent webpage creation tool , you can export links to html ... open this in your chosen editor , and validate link's .

I lost count after 3000 ... and last backup was 82mb's ... so it's had alot added over the year's ... thanks to am-deadlink ... I can keep an eye on them and keep most active ... removing redirected links for valid links .

Then chase up those that dont seem to be around .
