    Hi Guys,

I'm having real problems in converting the demultiplexed mp3 audio from

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8068309038544717701

to wav or mp2. It plays ok in Audacity and lots of other audio programs but simply won't convert to DVD compatable audio - all I get is silence. I'm aware that the sampling rate and bit rates are ridiculously low, I don't care - I just want the content on DVD; the audio recoders should be able to cope with the highly disparate bit rate & sampling rates.

I have no problems with the video, anything that can open using direct show will convert the video.

Has anyone else had similar experience with this type of file that could lend me a hand.

    Thanks

    PN

Well, seeing as it's a 350 MB avi file I didn't want to download all of it. But a sample was enough for AVIcodec to identify it as 128 kB MP3, sampled at 44k. Which isn't hifi, but isn't ultra low.

I grabbed the first 5 MB, demuxed it, and ran BeSweet.
I ran into probably the same problem you did when converting it directly to MP2; just hiss.
So I converted it first to WAVE, then converted the WAVE to MP2. That seems to work.

Thnks for this, I'll try it at home when I'm back at the weekend.

I seem to remember it being must lower sampling & b/r, once again I'll confirm at the weekend.

I did try BeSweet run under the GUI but without luck.

    I'll post back on Monday.

There were two versions offered. I chose the Windows/Mac version. The other was for iPod, probably that was lower rate.

As for Besweet, note I went to MP3 to WAVE first, then WAVE to MP2.
I used the Wizard interface which generates the command lines shown in the logfiles.

I used a third party download site (I'm M$ Explorer rather than Firefox based) and I believe that I captured the Win/Mac version, as you did. I may download FF & use that to down load the avi file.
