I've been using Roxio's Easy Cd Creater Platinum 5xx for several years and have never had a problem with it so I never upgraded it. Well I just got a new pc and the new dvd burner isn't seen by EZCD, and I really don't feel like spending $60+ for a new app for burning cds. Anyone have a good recommendation for a free cdburning app? Preferably one that the poster has actually used themselves. Thanks

I'm also a HUGE fan of the old Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum....shame I can't get it to work on my system.

  3. Can't you just use Windows Media Player(to burn audio cds). It's not great, but works...

  4. You could try CDBurnerXPPro, it's not bad at all. Free. (Installed it originally to create bootable ISOs, but use it occasionally for data CDs).

Burn it to an ISO file and burn with ImgBurn.

For audio and/or data cd's, try Deepburner. Very similar to Nero, without some of the more advanced features... and without the price tag, of course..................

CDBurnerXPPro is a good free program to use for CD's as well as DVD's. Imgburn that has already been mentioned is also a good free program to burn ISO images.

Nero 6 Suite is only $3 to $5 from various vendors such as http://www.surpluscomputers.com/store/main.aspx?p=ItemDetail&item=SWW12252, and it's what I switched to when I encountered same problem you had with Roxio.

zdnet lists a freeware called Click 'N Burn; seems to have good CD burning features:
