    Capturing at 720x576 45 mins video and coverting to 350mb using autogk (auto settings)

    or

    Capturing at 352x576 45mins video and converting to 350mb using autogk (auto settings)

    As you have to compress the larger file 720x576 more than you would the smaller file 352x567
    does this mean the converted 352x576 would result in better quality.

    I'm asking this question because I am trying to work out what would be better for capturing Television and converting to small size xvid. either 350mb or 700mb

    Capture in highest possible quality, 720x576 and uncompressed or highest possible bitrate if mpeg. It doesn't matter that you have to compress it more, better video source quality means that you can get better xvid video quality when compressing.
