  1. Hi all & Happy New Year

I am trying to convert an avi of American Pie 2 to VCD so I can watch it on my standalone DVD.

I select the template, but when I try to load the source it just says "File DDownloads\American.Pie.2.DvDRip.Divx-Vite.Avi" can not open, or unsupported.

Please can someone shed any light on this ??

    Cheers.

Not quiet sure but you may need the codecs to open that file and from the sounds of it, it could be the SMR patch/codecs.

    Try this:

Try to rename your filename to for an example americanpie2.avi I think there are to many dots (.) in the filename.
    Worth a try..

  4. T 3 X & the-beast...
    Thx for yyour replies.
I can play the file using Media Player without any problems, so I don't think it's missing the smr codec.
I did rename it to American Pie 2.avi, but got the same erroe msg as before

    Any further help greatly appreciated.

    Cheers.

  6. Try this it worked for me:
    In TMPGenc goto:
    Options
    Enivironmental settings
    VFAPI plug in
Set direct show multimedia file reader to prority 5 by right clicking on it
    Now try opening the file.

    Good luck
