I currently have hundreds of movies that are my families copies of Disney films, Old movies I can not find on DVD, etc. I was wondering if their might be a combo system that will allow me to copy without going to a multiple devices and using a cable to defeat the Macrovision. I do not care if it requires an eprom change or a hack of some type. If one has a DVR also that would be great.

I have searched on this topic and have not seen anyone else ask about it, but this forum is getting so large to weed through it is getting hard to find what you are looking for.

    Thanks for your help

  2. I doubt you will find any combo unit that will allow a copy of VHS to DVD if MV or any form of CP, is present, and the combo units are usually not good quality.
If you already have a good VCR I should think Use it, in conjunction with a decent DVD reorder. If the VCR is an old unit that ignores MV you could be OK but I doubt it would be
Some on the forums speak highly of a TBC [Time Base Corrector] in defeating MV. When dubbing a tape to DVD. I have not been happy with them, except possibly For MV only, when getting a good one but this can cost a good $250 or more. Again some say, those that only cost $20 to $40 work OK. However non will defeat the newer digital forms of CP
I use recorders that are no longer made and work fine for all.
If this is your goal you might look into getting a New Liteon 5005 that can be hacked or a Liteon 5005x. This is a rebaged iloR04 that can not be hacked as a 5005x, but with an easy firmware change, can be transformed into a ilo R04 which can be hacked.
You could always use either in front of an other recorder later if wanted.

You could also get a used unit but this could present other problems

    Edit
You should look into a unit with a HDD
I find it much easier to dub to the HDD and edit, than transfer to disk
