DVI (PC) Output to HDMI (TV) and VGA (PC)?

Ok, I'm rather new to this area, so please bear with me.

What I'm trying to do is find a cable setup that will allow me to connect my PC's DVI output to both my HDMI input on my TV as well as the VGA input on my LCD PC monitor. I currently have a DVI to HDMI cable for the TV hookup, and I have a DVI->VGA adapter for the monitor. My problem is I only have one DVI output on the video card.

So, is there a splitter cable or something that will get the job done for me?

Can't get there that way. Does the display card have a second output (DVI-I or VGA)?

No. The only other output on the video card is S-Video. 1 DVI and 1 S-Video.

Fantastic! That's kind of the idea I was thinking, but without the extra cable connections. This should work just fine.

One other thing...if I can ask a newbie question.

What's the difference between DVI-I and DVI-D? Should I expect any compatibility issues between the two when hooking up these cables?

DVI-I (as found on display cards) carries pins for DVI-D and DVI-A (same as VGA). That is why VGA adapters can be used and with most cards, two monitors can be run from one DVI-I connector (i.e DVI-D and VGA).

DVI-D will connect to HDMI for video only. You will nee to run audio separately.
