I posted another thread about a different issue, but now I'm trying to figure this one out.
I have Sony Bravia KDL-46S2000 LCD HDTV and Sony DVP-NS75H upscaling DVD player to 720p/1080i. I played couple of original DVD's and they are all cropped from top and bottom. They don't show on full screen. Any idea how to adjust this?
Then my friend brought me some burned DVD's and they show on full screen, but the image is streched. I'm confused. All this technology out there, but nothing seems to work fine in this days.
Any suggestions?

My best guess is that your TV is set to some kind of mode where it fills the entire screen. This will crop your DVDs. This will also stretch 4:3 aspect ratio DVDs. You need to check the display settings on your TV and set it to 16:9 and not to "fill screen" or whatever they call it. For 4:3 ratio DVDs, you will need to set your TV display to 4:3 or it will look stretched. Sorry, but this does mean that you will have to change the TV display output depending on your source. I suppose for some people it would be a huge nuisance, but I do it and I don't think it's a big deal. I don't like the stretched look at all, so I set it to 4:3 for 4:3 source material and to 16:9 for 16:9 material.

The DVP-NS75H has a 4:3 output setting control in the video setup menu. It should be set to Normal, not Full. That will make the DVD player properly display 4:3 material (pillarbox) on any widescreen TV.

I ditto ... gshelley61 ... I have a Sony 51" ... it has about 4 video screen choices ... normal ... full ... zoom and ... and ... I forgot.
I'm at work ... working graveyards ... but so far no bodies have rung the bell ... so I guess the coroner got it right this time.
