    hey there,

i'm a real newbie needing some help.
i have no idea what to do with the files i converted from mactheripper from my dvd.
    (i have a mac)

i need to get them to editable form in final cut pro from a dvd.
and after researching here found that i could use mactheripper, then bbdemux, then madplay.
however, after running the dvd through mactheripper, i have vob files that cannot be read by bbdemux.
and in bbdemux i'm not even sure what i'm supposed to be doing.
mactheripper makes the dvd into a folder with two folders in it, audio and video.
then i gathered that i put the vob1-1 file into bbdemux.
    is that right?

can someone walk me through in layman's terms?
    thank you so much!

Moving you to our mac forum section.

I would try mpeg streamclip (free) or Cinematize to cut out clips.

    Baldrick is correct.
MpegStreamclip will read the output from MTR,
and from there, run "Fix Timecode Breaks",
and then, save to either DV Stream or Quicktime Movie.

You will also need the MPEG2 QT playback component for Streamclip to work properly with your files (not free). You can get it at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/

when i open up the MTRed files in streamclip, it comes up as a screen with a play bar. is that right? and sometimes it says the format is unreadable.

is there something i'm doing wrong?

Again, you MUST have the MPEG2 playback component in order for Streamclip to work. Did you buy it? If not, then all you will see is a blank screen with a playbar across the middle. At most it will play sound only. At worst, it will do nothing (or give you an error).

In the read me file of MpegStreamclip's page
second paragraph under requirements it says this
    same thing.

Doesn't anybody read the requirements BEFORE installing stuff?
