Alright I'm new to these forums. Basically I've been using dvd shrink for over a year and have never once had a problem. Here's how I do it: I take dvdfab decriptor and decript the files and save them to my hd. Once that's done I open up dvd shrink and I then use that to load up the files, take off what subtitles and languages I want to remove, and then I have dvd shrink incode and burn it. I have nero and I believe somehow it burns through nero.
Lately I've been able to incode the latest movies I've tried to back up, which are Ice Age 2, Clerks II, and Slither. When I get to the 21% burned, the disc ejects and it says error. I have no idea what's causing this and I need to know if there's a solution to this problem.

Try using RipIt4Me instead of DVD Fab. Some of the newer DVDs have some complex encryption and you may have to do more than just rip it.
Also, instead of using Nero to burn, try this version of DVD Shrink that uses ImgBurn automatically. ImgBurn does a better job than Nero for this type of burning. Instructions and links here: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=63869
And welcome to our forums. -
What error are you getting?
It might be the error ("Cannot connect TRF.") that I got awhile back. After googling the error, I found that dvd shrink does not work well with Nero 6.6.1.4 (& Nero Digital 3.1.0.25). The last version that it works with is 6.6.0.18 and NVE 3.1.0.21. It might require uninstalling Nero, running Nero's General Clean Tool and installing the earlier versions. Make sure you record your serial number(s) BEFORE you uninstall your current version!!!
Here's a link to "Solution to 'Error:\nCannot connect TRF' - between Nero 6.6.1.4 and DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15".
(edited to include link) -
1.Update your firmware: www.rpc1.org
2.Try burning with DVDDecrypter, you can select it in DVDShrink once installed.
3.Try different media. -
Let me explain something before I move on with this.
For some reason, my hard drive reads as disk I:/ instead of C:/ it's been like this since I got the new hard drive and installed it. I recently defragmented and since then it hasn't worked burning, could it be something to do with that? -
You may be able to change your boot drive back to C. I don't know if that is causing your problem, though. If the original boot drive was C and since it changed you are having problems, here's a site that explains how to change it back:
http://www.petri.co.il/change_system_drive_letter_in_windows_xp.htm
But read the warnings first. -

This is the error message I received. Anyone tell me what it means? -
choose to create a ISO IMAGE within dvd shrink by going thru preferences. then use IMGBURN to burn your disc. or you could upgrade your nero burn to the latest version.
-
That error from your log,
Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR)
Even if you have used the same media before, it can vary by batch with some brands. This appears to be the Sony media you are using: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?dvdmediadvdridsearch=SONY16D1....%20
I would try ImgBurn also.
BTW, SilencetheFaint, I removed your Nero serial number from your post. Not a good idea to make that public. -
That's all fine, but the file is way too big, how to I compress it down so it fits on the disk?
-
Extract from the ISO all the files and directory onto hard drive, run DVD Shrink on the VIDEO_TS directory you extracted, which should generate another one. Then make an image of the reduced version and burn THAT one.
-
@SilencetheFaint,
If you are using RipIt4Me, try using the one-click instead of expert button. I was having problem with DVD Shrink and one-click RipIt4Me fixed the problem. Tried DVDFab, DVD Shrink failed as well.
