@ midnight PS3 was sold in some stores around US for around $700.00 including tax and now it is selling on ebay for an average $3.000,00.
Why in the hell would someone pay a 3K for a game

TUCKER would say "I really don't get it"

3 Grand is insane, even if you were filthy rich, it just isn't a good value.

I work doing retail construction and have been on hand when a couple of these "Latest and greatest" games have come out. One store did a presale type deal and they called you in to pick your unit up when it arrived. So I saw like five people come in and pick up their unit, they where already in bags and you were supposed to leave the store imediatly after picking it up, but these people stepped right out of the front door and held instant auctions. And because of this there were big crowds of people waiting around for the scalpers, it is a sickness I tell ya! My kids better take real good care of the cheap ass Game cube they have or learn how play with themselves, because they ain't getting anything else!

That is what is wrong with capitalism. I'm not knocking it because I love it sometimes but stuff like this should be illegal.

  10. At the register, there is a story about a person wanting to pay 89 million dollars on ebay for a PS3. That person is crazy.

I was gonna use "Hey, what could go wrong", but after watching a guy doing an emissions test on a Mercedes and blowing the radiator neck off because he didn't use a fan to put air across the radiator while the car was on the dyno... Well you get the idea. Anything could go wrong, but smoke is so much better

Let's put it this way: there are some people with time to spend waiting in freezing temps in front of a store for 2 days and there are those who would rather just cough up obscene sums of money. I am the former. I'll let y'all know how much it ends up going for but we're on quite an amazing run right now. I thought it would go for $2500 tops but I exceeded that almost instantly.

Not bad for 2 days work 8)

I'll get one once they come out with a solid hardware revision.

i just spent about 10 minutes playing some off road truck racing game on Best Buy's demo unit.
the machine is freakin HUGE compared to Sony's previous machines.
the game was fun. nothing new or special though. the graphics were nothing special either.
it will be a while before anything on this system comes out that will really blow people away. hell, many developers will continue to make PS2 games because they still haven't figured out how to tap the full abilities of PS2 and development for PS2 is a whole hell of a lot cheaper than making games for PS3.
think about launch games for the original PlayStation compared to what was coming out for that same system a year after PS2 launched. it was like nite and day difference
now compare today's PS2 titles to PS2 launch titles. again, a big difference.
PS2 ain't going nowhere anytime soon.

Take a closes look @ this. Both the winner and the second high bidder are "Not a registered users", which means that they will not pay for this item.
Only the seller will be hurt out of this auction, because he will have to pay about $1.000,00 the ebay final value fee!

The third higher bidder placed maximum bid 3K, which is average. He will propablly receive second chance offer from the seller.

There are plenty of ******** like this one that will **** you up like this

he won't have to pay the fees from a non paying bidder. Chances are he is the one with those not registered accounts driving the price up to max out people's bids. Then all he does is 2nd chance it to whoever gave the highest bid and has a decent rating

so it looks like imanugie is going to get an email asking for his $2800 as his rating is 1080

The need to enforce loitering laws and simply pass city ordinances that prevent people from "lining up" outside of businesses more than 15 minutes prior to opening.

It's that easy. And then enforce the shit out of it. Put people in jail, give them $500 tickets and then warrant their arrest should they fail to pay.

I am not really so much against folks lining up to buy at the asking price, although I think it would be better if the store gave out vouchers and told them to come back when called or has a lottery for vouchers, where for a week you could get a lottery ticket and then the day before they have a drawing and then call the winners in to come buy their toy. (just to help with crowd control and the associated issues)

I am kind of wishy washy on the scalper thing though. I mean if you own a unit you should be able to sell it for whatever the market will bare, but come on people, just how much is a toy worth?

I caught part of a newscast that showed the store passing out playing cards to the folks standing in line. I assume that they will be calling the folks in using a Keno type drawing. But I think that the stores should be more responsible than letting the crowd determine the order and letting people with already twisted priorties stand out in the cold.

Why would a business allow that to happen to their customers? Who is all this hurting?

As far as passing out numbers / vouchers, you still have the same problem distributing the vouchers that you'd have distibuting the actual machines when their available for sale.

One Wal-mart store somwhere did really smart thing. They had 140 PS3 for sale and they just gave tickets to first 140 people in line and tell them to go home and come back anytime they want to with their tickets.

That is what I am talking about, diffuse the situation, spread out the time frame that folks come back to get the toy. But the thing that I worry about is the ediquitte (SP) of the line formation and just passing out first come first serve vouchers, thats why I suggest a lottery/drawing type event. And if the stores were clever they could sell/use the information gained for a mailing list. Mu Ha Ha Ha!

Of course it wasn't an accident. They wanted to see how popular it is, even so they lost money innitially they will get it back in march 2007 by bumping the prize up. Just wondering if they going to fill the market this time and how much it will cost.
Right now on ebay the prize is not so hot anymore, an average $1.500,00.

Console makers normally sell the consoles at a loss and make up for it with the licensing of the games. This is where the profit is generated.
