Problems with SVCD2DVD menu and mpeg output

I donated to get the full version of SVCD2DVD. I needed a program that was an all-in-one solution for converting and authoring my HD captures (.ts files) onto DVD.

Initially, I had some success - SVCD2DVD converted my .ts files with good video quality and AC3 audio, and shrunk them down to fit on a DL-DVD. Unfortunately, this program's menu designer is seriously weak. No automatic thumbnail image capability, and you can't even add your own text - i.e. a title? - to the menu. After burning, the menu wouldn't work - either on my computer or stand-alone DVD player.

Frustrated, I decided to use my Nero 6 Ultra to burn the mpegs which SVCD2DVD had converted so that I could use Nero's menu designer. First, I dropped another 20 bucks to get the AC3 plug-in. Unfortunately, I then discovered that Nero views my 7.87GB of SVCD2DVD mpegs as being 9.28GB!

So now I'm right back where I started - I've got some awesome HD captures of an awesome football game, which I can't turn into an awesome DVD - except that now, I'm 60 bucks lighter.

Help would be appreciated, but I know you can't support Nero.

Well you can add thumbnails to a menu but first can you tell me why the menus don't work... Lets get to the bottom of that first.
