    Hi,

How can I create a DVD from two DVDs with as one Title set without compression? The combined size of the DVDs is OK for this.

I tried TSUNAMI-MPEG Authoring tool and DVDShrink but they create two title sets (Title 1 and Title 2) and while playing the final DVD, there is a transition point from Title 1 and Title 2, which results in a break with a black screen.

What I would like to get is just smoothly running movie with one Title; one VIDEO_TS.IFO; VIDEO_TS.BUP and all VOBs under VTS_01... without VTS_02...

    Thanks

Rip both DVDs (main title only) with DVDDecrypter, set file splitting to none.
That's give you one VOB from each DVD.
Run both thru vob2mpg, resulting in 2 mpg files. (This may not be a required step - try using the VOBs directly instead if mpg below)
Add these mpg files to the same title/track in TDA, remove chapter point TDA inserts at join.
    Author.
    Done.

    Thank you!

What if I have two m2v files? The first DVD is the result of conversion from PAL DVD to NTSC DVD and the second one from AVI to NTSC DVD.

    Can I use those m2v?

Sorry for the naive question: Can I just take all VOBs, renumber them (the second DVD has only one VOB; it is very short) and create IFOs with IfoEdit anew and thus create a brand new DVD?

m2v is video only - to make a DVD, you need accompanying DVD compliant audio too.
Yes, you can do some IfoEdit magic to accomplish that too.

    Hi,

I tried to do it through IfoEdit but it does not work.

I cannot use Dycriptor as the files are on the HD. Do I really need to to write them on DVD and rip them back?

Is there any way to use the files (two sets of IFO, BUP and VOBs) that are on HD to create a movie consisting of one Title set?

    Thanks.

If you have them on HDD, vob2mpg should join all VOBs from a title to one mpg.

    Thanks, Mats.

I did not try it yet as I asumed there must be one VOB that I was supposed to get the way you outlined. Sorry for misunderstanding.

    Hi,

I converted the VOB to MPEGs with VOB2MPG and after that built a DVD with TAD but I've got the same thing:

a DVD with two IFOs; two BUPs and two sets of VOBs as VTS_01.... and VTS_02.... The DVD has the transition point and it is easily seen while playing on PC. It stops for a very short while and then goes on.

I did not burn it to DVD disk as I am sure it will be the same on my standalone.

While authoring, I left the names of both MPGs as MPG1. Could it affect anything?

Is there any way to create a really smooth video of the two without any stops with VTS_01.. only?

    Thank you!

  10. Demux, add the 2 M2Vs in Muxman, add the 2 audios, and mux. Can't guarantee the audio will be in synch in the second part, though. It can be fixed if it's not.

    1) Did you add both mpgs to the same track/title?
    2) Did you remove the chapter point that TDA inserts at the join?

    Hi Mats,

It looks like not. I added the second file to the second track. As for the joint point I never dealt with it.

Sorry if I screwed it. I will try it again.

    Then a break/pause isn't all that odd!

No, as you've created 2 separate tracks, there is no joint! But if you add 2 or more source files to the same track, TDA will by default set a chapter point at the joins, and these cause a slight pause on some players. Remove this/these, and it should play seamlessly.

Mats, is there any difference between chapter points created inside an added video (they never give delay) and the one at the point of joining files? If there's a mentioned problem after joining files by authoring in the same track, unlikely that simply removing that chapter point would solve it. The delay (or audio click) at joining point may result from difference in ending times of video/audio in one of the sources (e.g. silent end credits) and just trimming end/beginnig of the sources at importing would help.

I agree in principle and theory. But experience and empiric tests has discovered this to be a fact.

    Hi,

Since I still keep the M2Vs on the HD, manono's way looked the easiest for me and it worked. No transition point, the movie runs perfectly smooth. The audio of both parts is also synchronized perfectly well.

My first project is almost over!!!!

It looks like the only thing I have to do is to make chapters. I do remeber the way manono advised me but for now I would prefer to use something more simple.

Can I load the video I have created into TAD and just make chapters? If positive will it affect the picture quality?

    Thank you!

    Edit: It worked!
