  1. I have great success burning these CHEAP Office Depot Ritek DVD+r DL d01's at 2.4 with NEC 3550A but wondering if anyone can get these to burn at 4,6,8x speed. Need to know Burner and Firmware.

Bought these Ritek's for 5 dollars for 25 so I need a FASTER WAY to burn them.

And before you FLAME me ... I know they are CHEAP ASS GARBAGE ... but if one or 2 of you guys figured out how to burn them FASTER with SUCCESS, I sure would be GRATEFUL.

P.S. I posted this question in Media forum too , so I cover my BASES. Wasn't sure how many people visit both those rooms, so I posted here in case someone has Success with these at HIGHER SPEED and might not visit the other room .

You can try one of these modded firmwares (Liggy and Dee's) that possibly will help, I use them (1Y6) and it can be reflashed to stock afterwards:

  3. Thanks , that's the firmware I'm currently using on my NEC 3550A and it does work at 2.5 speed.

But it takes about 40 minutes a burn.

That's why I figured I might NEED a NEWER BURNER that has a GOOD SUCCESS RATE at 4,6, or 8x on these disks.

Thats the limit of the media...you can use this software (below) to add a new speed for that media to your firmware and see if it works.

  5. Are we on the same PAGE?

Regular single layered DVD-R disks take my 6-8minutes NO problem... so my DMA is set ok.

Can you get these Double Density ritek's to works above 2.4x in your drive ... these disks are rated at 2.4x ... but I'm trying to find out how to increase beyond RATED SPEED with SUCCESS.

NERO doesn't give me an option to increase the speed above 2.4x.

p.s. you posted the above message as I was composing this. I'll try that program. Thanks

As you didn't say anything about your other media working properly, asking about dma is a good question and on the same page.

  7. You are right to ask if my DMA was set right as a trouble-shooting option.
I am looking into the PROGRAM you suggested and I'll try editing the firmware to try 4x, or 6x.
    Thanks again.

  8. UPDATE!
A Big THANK YOU to GKar!
Made successful burn at 8x ... went from 40 min burn to 19 minutes. Plays fine. I'll use this speed on unimportant stuff.

  10. You made my day ... I got alot of 5 dollar for 25disks (18 packs) and 40 minutes a BURN was taking forever. I can LIVE with 19 minutes!
