  1. Hi people, I have trying to read a dvd-ram with a Windows 2000 (sp4) but no success. With my XP works fine, same hardware (lg 4040b), but this same drive with W2K wont work. Simply the OS refuses to understand the dvd inserted. I have installed the DVD ram driver bundled and tryied search other in the net but again no success. Please help!

I just bought a new DVD writer (Optiarc AD-7170A) and I'm having the same problem... And I can't seem to find a DVD-RAM driver for Windows 2000.

Windows XP doesn't have this problem, since the driver is built into the OS.

I took care of this issue previously with my Pioneer DVR-107A, but that was two years ago and I forgot what I did. *smacks head on desktop*

Anyone got any ideas aside from upgrading to XP?

Thanks for the quick response... Saw that link.

    Not a freebie, though: $80.

    Ouch.

Have you try using Nero InCD?

If you have nero 5.5 or 6 you can upgrade to the latest version under Nero 6.6.

Y'know, I installed InCD, but Explorer couldn't recognize the DVD-RAM disc I put in the reader...

Maybe I have to install a more updated version and try again.

    Thanks.

Okay, I found a free download WriteDVD: http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=17248

You have to suffer through a number of advertisements to get to the download page, but it appears to be worth it.

Not quite sure if it has an expiration date or similar since I didn't get any popup messages... We'll see.
