  1. I was scanning my Ram using Memtest, I checked the first memory stick and then I replaced the other one and after starting the pc it started to smell like burned. I turned off the pc immediately...
    What can it be?
Is it possible that I didn't place the RAM well in the motherboard?

One last thing, after I turned the pc off, the RAM was very very hot and the etiquette on it melted a bit...Please I need some advice...what have I done wrong...

Check your power supply to make sure it has not failed. That could cause significant damage to other things.

I've never had this happen to me, so I don't know if its possible that inserting the memory incorrectly could cause it. I'm not even sure that it is possible to insert memory improperly without using a great deal of force.

I've only heard of this happening once but the guy had to toss his RAM and Mobo because they both were fried from it. I wasnt able to read up on what it was because no one responded knowing what happened.

I would say check your power supply like the above person said and check your slot where the RAM was to be sure there is no damage to it.

There is always a possibility that something was in your slot or on the gold connections of the RAM and was wedged between the connection. Maybe try to get a flashlight and take a good look in the slot.

Also, are there any black marks on the gold connections?? if so then I'm thinking it may have screwed your mobo or just that slot. I hope it hasn't, that would be a huge upset..

Good luck to you, let us know if you find anything out about it.
