I have a touch screen monitor that I would like to use at an event and have the DVD play - the DVD will have different short videos playing - the menu for the title menu and the different submenus works fine - but once a person selects a video to watch they have to watch the entire video - there is no way to navigate back to the main menu - we do work in Director and know how to do that - but I would like to create a menu driven DVD project in something like Sony Architect or encore and have some way to control the actual video when a person is watching the DVD in full screen - that way I can have DVD's available to hand out that people can watch on their TV - but I can use the same project for the Touch Screen system....

DVD Lab Pro supports Button Over Video, which allows for a button to be placed like a subtitle, however if it is selected, an action occurs. If you have seent he original Matrix DVD you have seen this in action in the Follow The White Rabbit option.
An alternative method would be to put all the clips as backgrounds to motion menus, and use these instead of normal video titles. You could then make the whole screen a large invisible button. This could be done in authoring tool.Read my blog here.

not sure I understand - should I make the clips backgrounds to motion menus - could I do this in Encore or Architect?

what does the invisible button do? I want to be able to control the video during the video...

You can set the button to do anything you would normally have a button do - return to the main menu or a submenu, jump to the next clip. But you only get one choice. All you are doing in creating a menu with one button. It just so happens that to the user it looks like a video clip.
What you stated you needed to create a was a DVD that would allow someone using a touch screen to play a clip, and interrupt the playback and return to the menu at any time. This will allow you to do this.
Honestly - why don't you just create a simple dummy menu to test it. Shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes. Call it a proof of concept.Read my blog here.
