  1. Good day all

I have a DVD project I'm trying to create a menu for. It basically starts with a menu allowing the viewer to select one of two options. The options will show either topic, or title for clips.

When you, for instance, the topic list, you can select a topic, and view a list of clips for that topic. I can get so far, but need a way to be able to view either an individual clip for a topic (which I can manage) or view all clips for that topic, and that topic only. After viewing all clips of that topic, or a single clip of that topic, the disc needs to return to the menu that the viewer was just on.

Rather stressed as this is a job from a client who wants it as in yesterday.

I have downloaded DVD styler, but am unable to play all clips of a topic, or get the menu to return to where it was. Unless I am not using that properly. Perhaps another program could do this?

Any suggestions, tips, help greatly apprciated.
    Thanks in advance...

I really recomend GUI for dvd author for you...it's a DVD menu creating program where you can make as complicated DVD menus as you want...the only disadvantage is that you have to convert all your .avi files to .m2v sound to .ac3 and so on ... it takes some time to learn how to create a whole DVD - project using GUI for dvd author but I think that it's one of the best program ever made for DVD-authoring!!! (BIG THANKS TO BORAX FOR THAT PROGRAM ) anyway if you are still interessted in learning how to create a DVD from the beginning to the end you can take a look at my guide that shows you everything in small steps

    my guide: https://forum.videohelp.com/topic353434.html

    hope this helps you!

though if you need to do this project of yours fast then maybe you should use a faster DVD-GUI (which converts your .avi files and do all for you very fast...but as said GUI for DVD author could not be compared to any of these)

    cheers and good luck!!

    michcio!

  3. Hi Michcio

Thank you for the reply. I will take a look.
I'm not sure what format I will receive the files in. Probably a mixture. I do have a lot of video editing software, so I could convert those easily. At the moment I"m creating a sample disc with mpeg2 encoded files containing ac3 sound. I had attempted things with DVD styler, but as my original post said, I have been unable to play all clips for just one catagory. Maybe it's possible, but I'm new to that software, and the manuals didn't mention anything.

Thanks for the suggestion. Any others anyone wishes to add would be greatly appreciated!!

For the record. I'm running a Win32 system.

Well, all these simple DVD creators will do a simple DVD, because they are based on a template menus.
If you want something more complex, you will have to learn PgcEdit, which will allow you to change commands and do navigation the way you want, or get better software, like DVD Lab Pro or similar.

  5. PgcEdit looks great. Just the time in which to learn all that. I'm going to check out the trial for DVDLabPro and see if that's worth getting. My main software has been DVD Factory from Corel, and of course their Video Studio.

Things wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't a last minute request for a rush job.

    Thanks again.
