Hi,

I'm looking for a good 3D noise reduction filter to use with Final Cut Pro. I've tried some of the filters in MPR compressor, which are described as this:

Algorithm pop-up menu: Select one of the following algorithms from the Algorithm
pop-up menu: Average (each pixel’s color is modified by taking an average color of
pixels around it, including its own color value); Replace (each pixel’s color is
modified by taking an average of pixels around it, while ignoring its own color
value); and Merge (each pixel’s color is modified by taking a weighted average of
surrounding pixels and itself; the pixel’s own color value is given greater weight).

But to me the results look like 2D noise reduction, and there is some obvious blurring. I'm a little baffled by all the settings, but nonetheless I wasn't happy with any of the results I've achieved thus far.

I tried the demo of this program and wasn't all too impressed either:

I finally stumbled upon this today, and I'm still trying to figure it out:

One thing that's really bothering me as that I'm specifically looking for a 3D (temporal) noise reduction tool, but it seems very few things are explicitly labeled as such. And judging from my results, it looks like most are 2D (spatial) tools, which is not what I'm looking for!

I'm really lost in this maze here, and I was wondering if anyone had some good advice for what would be a good 3D filter, hopefully one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I need something that will clean up VHS noise in general, but that can also handle fast motion scenes without messing up the picuture. My friend seems to be having good luck doing this on Windows software, but at the moment I can't find anything comparable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
