I see alot of techs advise using the m-audio FireWire Solo.Im prone to think because I only intend to record one acoustic electric guitar with a condencer mic in the sound hole (2 tracks)that I"ll do fine with the Fast Track USB.Is it possible to come out with CD quality sound with Fast Track. Or should I save up money to buy the FireWire?
I would use that with Realtek AC97 and Adobe Audition 1.5.
Much Thanks.

Best to confirm the tradeoff issues in a forum dedicated to your capture and editing software. Although the Fast Track USB will be fine for creating a file, Adobe Audition may have specific issues with direct interface to various capture hardware. -
This is a good reply.Im gonna try and stay loyal to the Fast Track USB(2.0) and ask around about it's use with capture and editing software. I do notice that m-audio makes no mention of use with Adobe Audition.
Thanks

OK I now have the m-audioFastTrack. $99 Free shipping from SameDayMusic. This is a gold mine for the poor man.It works very well with Adobe Audition 1.5 and the sound is CD quality. Now I myself found that the playback audio was too low if I pluged directly into the device.I sent my instrument into a Tascam Porta 02 mini studio cassette recorder. From there the sound went into the FastTrack and the files then played back with full volume with no hiss at all.
With the M-AudioFastTrack and the Adobe Audition 1.5,I now have the happyness of knowing that I have what it takes to make a professional product.
Wish much high tech to you all.Cloud 8.67 -

I hope to look into the fuctions of the "Input Level Switch" in about two weeks.I do remember checking the switch in the back in the hope it would increase the volume.Maybe I overlooked something. It would be good to find out I can go directly into the Interface and get full volume.
Much Thanks for Your Post and Tip.

I have the M-Audio Fast track USB and there is a switch on the rear for direct line in.
I have recorded with volume directly into the PC (using cakewalk sonar software).
Try adjusting your volume on your guitar. I havent used the direct line in in a while so cant remember but also check if the input knob on the front also affects the direct line in (I think its just for the mic input but i cant recall).
Good luck. -
Rudyard or anyone else there,I have upgraded my computer a great deal as well as my guitar.I was lead to think that would allow me to record directly into the M-AUDIO FAST TRACK and have full volume when played back, but I only get half the volume that other files put out.Again when I go through the Tascam Porta 02 into the fast track the play back is in full volume.I 've gone back and forth between the two over and over.but now my old Tascam is about died out.
When I use the fast track I put the guitar through both the fast track's mic line and guitar line but the mic line in the fast track records much lower than the guitar line unless I set the mic line to wide open.I feel I have no choice but to replace the Tascam with a Yamaha audio mixer to get stereo and of course full volume at play back.So how about if I go from the acoustic electric guitar with a dencer mic to line 1 and from the the guitar's output(with its pre amp)to line 2 in a Yamaha MG10/stereo mixer www.musiciansfriend.com/product/yamaha-MG102-Stereo-Mixer?sku=630048&src=3wbz4ds and from there go into both the mic input and the guitar input of the fast track? The last thing I want to do is overkill in equipment or get it home and it dosen't work well with the audio interface. And yes I have used the input switch in the back of the m-audio.
Thank You.

I give up on going direct into the fast track with both lines.I'm going now with two mics from the guitar, one into the fast track's XLR the other from the Tascam on into the fast track's instrument input.Anyone let me know what you think about going from a Yamaha MG10/stero mixer to the XLR and imput of a m-audio fast track.
