i've been searching many stores for a firewire-to-usb plug or hub or whatever they're called. bestbuy, bjs, staples, officemax, even looked on amazon, noone carries such a thing. they say it doesn't exist.

so i want to connect my sony trv22 cam to my netbook, it only has two usb2 ports, no fw, so i'm looking for a fw2usb if they exist...so, do they make fw2usb something, where i can pick one up, or am i wishing, thanks for any leads.

They don't exist for the TRV-22.

Never saw one that worked with camcorders or video capture devices. Some claim to work with networking over Firewire.

You need to cap to a computer with IEEE-1394 (not a Mac if you are on Windows).

I have the same problem with my new laptop. Called tech support and they said NOPE! (for my machine) I almost can't wait for my video camera to die, just so I won't have this problem, but I'm so used to my video camera's function's and features. Uncompressed... whah!!! I keep my 8 yr old desktop around just to upload video.

  6. Not exactly a hub or adapter but can do firewire to USB2 and ALSO allows you to capture from analog sources (to DV AVI, AVI or MPG)
