I'm not sure what you are asking This forum is for AVI, etc., type conversions, but you ask about DVD burners, then mention Nero.

If you are asking about converting a AVI (MPEG-4) type of file, such as a Xvid to a DVD format with a all in one converter, try ConvertXToDVD. The better method is to use a standalone encoder and authoring program and a burning program like ImgBurn.

If you are asking about converting a MPEG or DVD to MPEG-4 format like Xvid with a all in one, then avi.NET, AutoGK or FairUse Wizard would be three choices. Or you could use VirtualDub. Then you could use Nero or ImgBurn to burn to a data disc.

Nero is OK for burning, but doesn't do much else very well, IMO.

Or if you are asking about hardware DVD writers, you're in the wrong forum.

  3. Oh I think you could find lots of converting software that would do a crap job just as badly as Nero does.

As a burning software, it is OK. Not too many that truly suck at this.
