    I am having problems with audio sync when converting ASF to AVI in Winavi (and other converters I've tried).

    I've noticed that the audio goes off usually due to a "blip" in the picture or a freeze.

    How can I "fix" the ASF file before converting?

    Tried "ASF Tools", but when I try to repair it, it looks for a reference file, but I don't know what particular file it is looking for.

    You might try dragging the files into TMPGEnc (I don't believe TMPGEnc will open them directly) and converting them to mpg first. AVI doesn't deal well with the variable frame rate windows media files.
