OMG! First, lordsmurf was most excellent in sending me the drivers I need for my ATi AIW. I installed the WDM capture drivers no problem. Now for the display drivers.....I run set up and get these two errors:

INF Error Video Driver Not FOund
Try to set up your display adaptor with a standard VGA driver before running setup

What the heck have I done wrong? I think maybe I got over-zealous when I cleand the old installation off my PC and maybe deleted an INF file I need?

Any help on what to do from here other than throw this PC through the window?

sounds like you did not switch your display driver from your current one (ATI/nVidia/etc) to the standard VGA driver before attempting to install the new versions. This is usually a required step, especially when not just updating drivers. IMO, it is always a good idea.

uninstall your current driver and install the standard VGA driver befire installing the new drivers. (instructions should be included with the driver and should also be avaialable on ATIs web site).

You'd think that but I can get 7.7 installed no problem. Not sure what's going on but looks like I'll just have to stay with an older version.

Uninstall everything, reboot, delete anything ATI from the registry, delete any ATI folders in Program Files, and then be sure the hardware is set to use standard/generic display.

    Then install everything again.

I know, it's a pain, but it works.

Do yourself a favor (after uninstalling and cleaning up anything ATI - and - giving yourself a default display) and install the display drivers first...not the capture drivers.
    Have a good one,

A good tool to help clean up messy installs of video drivers is drivercleaner http://www.drivercleaner.net/
It has helped me a number of times in the past.

I can try to send you some other files if any particular item does not work well for you (like the control panels).
