  1. Like: tab browsing
    Like: search bar

Dislike: Address bar location. Actually, I HATE the fact that it's at the top and menu is below it

  2. For those that care

Here is the registry hack to move the Menu back to the top in IE7:

    1. Click Start, Run, and then enter regedit into the runbox
    2. Press ENTER or click OK
    3. Browse to the following key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser

    4. Click the Edit menu in regedit
    5. Select New and then DWORD value
    6. The name should be highlighted in the right column. Just type over this to name it:
    ITBar7Position
    7. Double click your new entry in the right column.
    8. Change the value to 1.
    9. Close regedit and open IE7 to see the change.

For those registry gurus... here's the process in one swoop:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser]
    "ITBar7Position"=dword:00000001

  3. Thats a bit better. I don't know why they swapped it around like that. The GUI is the worse part of IE7. Thankfully, I'm primarily a Firefox user.

  4. My main dislike is that when I try to install it I get sent to an error page telling me I need to modify my registry to install it and I'm not comfortable doing that.

right click on the grey area pretty much anywhere at the top
    select Customize Command Bar
    select Add or Remove Commands
Select Read Email in the left window
    click add
    click closed

you might have to use the slider bar next to the home icon

not trying to thread jack, but, with past experience, installing IE 7 automaticly enables "CLEAR TYPE" by default, and i hate it---any ideas????? i can disable clear type but when i re-boot, it is enabled again......

  8. After installing and rebooting, in the options that come up, you can uncheck clear type and reboot and it's gone. After the fact, look here.

installed it. had no "favorites", right clicking in the top bars did nothing, no options....... no TABS, just one straight browser window..... it was worthless junk. firefox at least works right after a new install without having to go huh.... wtf.

oh and uninstalling i.e.7 left the machine without a m.s. browser at all. couldn't reinstall i.e. 6 as it kept claiming a "newer" version was still installed.

I'd like to try it out but ... man ... what if I hate the results too ....

Did you use ... System Restore .... before updating to IE-7 ... would it have done any good ??

How about backing up the registry also.

I much as I ponder ... installing IE-7 ... having to do a reinstall of WIN XP and all the programs I spent days installing does not appeal to me .... whether I do it to my computer ... or my wife's computer that I maintain.

I use my wife's computer for ripping and burning DVDs ... she has the same basic specs as my computer has ... same amount of RAM ... same MOBO ... she has a ATI 9550 video card installed.

Even though I have DVD-RB Pro installed on both computers ... it is her computer that I use to process about 5 or more passes with the CCE encoder when I use DVD-RB Pro.

Takes a little over 300 minutes to process a 5 or 6 pass re-encoding session.

  14. I installed IE7 on 2 PCs, decided I didn't like it and uninstalled it, both PCs just went back to IE6, no problems. The favorites is the star on the left side of the webpage name.

i really like how it allows me to open multiple home pages on start up, i like the feel, the sharpness of the picture compared to firefox's picture on my monitor, and the tabs are simply marvellous.....i may start to use it more until firefox 2.0 comes out with an update for its tab mix plus add on because with out the add on, it takes me longer to open pages in firefox because i have to go through 2 or 3 steps then it opens. with tab mix plus in firfox i just click on it and it opens in a new tab. IE7 for some odd reason doesnt give me this option or if im wrong please point me in the right direction

  19. With the release of new versions of Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Mozilla's Firefox, the Web has been abuzz with reports on the second outbreak of the browser wars, pitting Microsoft and Mozilla in an overt fight to the death for market share. But that fight is more subtle than most people might assume.

    LOL LOL LOL

"Likes: tabs, search bar" - nothing new, available for YEARS in other browsers...

WHAT IS THERE TO LIKE IN SUCH BUGGY-STRAIGHT-OUT-OF-THE-BOX SOFTWARE?!

Here is small comparison of vulnerabilities and status of their patching as of today:

    Internet Explorer 7:
3 known vulnerabilities, ALL UNPATCHED/NOT FIXED
    http://secunia.com/product/12366/?task=statistics

    FireFox 2.x:
    0 vulnerabiities
    http://secunia.com/product/12434/?task=statistics

    K-Meleon 1.x:
    0 vulnerabilities
    http://secunia.com/product/12157/?task=statistics

Whats there to "like" or "dislike" about voluntarily infecting your computer with security holes coming from buggy and unsafe software?
To me it sounds like "cancer - likes and dislikes"; yeah, when youre sick you get disability pension without having to work, but would you really like it?

    I like IE.
Maybe because the first app I ever used for internet was Netscape and it was total and utter crap.
Then I used IE and it was so much better....
I tried something else, Mozilla or Firefox or Opera or something like that, but I just couldn't get used to the interface after using IE for so many years.
I tried the other for about a week, but it was just too quirky.

Open pages that you want to open at start up in tabs in the order you want, close all others.
    Then go

    Tools
    Options
    Main

and click Use Current Pages button.
