I have 25 episodes of a TV show in Xvid format. Each episode is 350 MB.
I tried fitting these 25 into 2 DVD-Rs, 4.7 GB, however, only 12 episodes fit on each one, leaving 1 episode hanging...
soo , i was thinking of maybe shrinking the size of one of the episodes to less than 300 MB, so I can then have enough room to fit all 25 episodes onto 2 DVD-Rs.
So, question is, what is the best way to reduce the file size of an xvid ?

Reencode with a lower bitrate. Use VirtualDub in Fast Recompress mode. Image quality will suffer of course.Originally Posted by pj94z
You might also try cutting of opening and closing credits without reencoding. Use VirtualDub in Direct Stream Copy mode. -
You might go through the eps and cut out or abbreviate credits or title sequences. Over 12 eps you'll probably save enough to fit the 13th.
And/or you might demux the sound and save that at a lower rate. Most TV shows don't require high fidelity. -
OK guys, thx for the replies.
I was planning on squeezing 1 episode and leave the other 12 alone - they are very high quality xvids of HD video, looks really awesome.
If I can squeeze one episode down from 350 mb to maybe 300 MB, I think it would all fit on ONE DVD.
Or, I may just get fed up and use a 3rd DVD and burn one single episode to it lol
