Ok, I've tried several different programs to try to convert my first AVI to VCD (mpg), and none have produced an mpeg that is usuable.
For instance, I just did a 10 minute test conversion of the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon AVI that is available on Morpheus. Using TMPGE, I encoded using the VideoCD (NTSCFilm) template and the default settings (1:1 Source aspect and Full Screen (keep aspect ratio).
The resulting mpg looks good, but the sound has ticks and nicks in it. Also, if you skip ahead in the mpg while it is playing... the playback speed seems to pick up and it starts to play back a lot faster.
I've played this mpg in several players (Windows Media Player, BSPlayer) and these problems are the same in both.
Any assistance would be very helpful. I've got 15+ AVIs that I'm trying to convert to watchable VCDs, but have yet to get one to work... as this sound problem and speed problem is always there.
Thanks.

More info on my problem...
Some of the tinkering I've done to try to correct this problem -- I've ripped the audio from the original avi into an mp2 and also into a wav file. Then using TMPGE (v12a), I mulitplexed.
Again, the resulting mpg has noticeable audio ticks.
Assistance would be great. Thanks.
