I have a collection of of asf and wmv and none play on my TV 4:3, current dvd stand alone player so I thought to convert them and burn on to a DVD disc not format(poor resolution)
For the above reason it would be futile to convert them all to DVD format but because there are 3Gb in total I wish to put them all on to a DVD.
What would be the best format to convert to and burn on to a DVD disc?
    Thank you

    WMV
    Audio 16bit
    channels 1
    sample rate 22Hz
    Video 330 Kps
    24 bit
    stream name video2

    ASF
    Audio16bit
    channels1
    sample rate 32Hz
    Video 184kps
    24bit
    video2

If your DVD player can only play DVDs then you don't have much choice. Expect them to grow to much larger than 3gb along the way.

If you have a Divx certified player then you could convert them to Xvid avi and burn them to a data disc instead.

Look at What is DVD ? (Top left corner of this page) to see allowable resolutions. You might get better quality of you convert them to a lower resolution for DVD.

Generally, unless the WMV is HD, the quality is always pretty average after conversion, with asf usually being even worse.

    Thank you for your reply
And yes I have a Divx certified player so I may be tempted to convert to avi but one thing I am not sure my LG plays Divx formatted files and I have never tried a Xvid file.
Oh well I suppose does not hurt to try.

Which LG ? My LG plays Divx 5 and 6, Xvid, raw mpeg and a few other variations. I have yet to find an avi in these formats that it will not play.
