I have this TS file but I can't get it to play on my mac. I thought it was a problem with the file but I was told at doom9 that I need to install the right decoder for it. VLC can't handle the file for some reason.
The following decoders were recommended
Cyberlinks H.264-decoder
Elecard H.264-decoder
CoreAVC-H.264-decoder
But as far as I can tell, they aren't available for mac. Does anyone know any h.264 decoders that will play the file? Re-encoding it really isn't an option for me. It would take weeks.

It's funny how posting something to forum gets you to fix it.
I had also been told that the TS file is an MBAFF recording which VLC can't handle. So I googled MBAFF and it turns out there's a version of VLC with MBAFF support.

New problem. Apparently the only way to view 1080i HD streams smoothly without a $5000 Mac pro is to use the above decoders...........but they aren't available for mac. So I'll have to wait on that dream machine, unless anyone here knows of any decoders I can use.

1080i HD encoded to MPEG2 (i.e., transport streams from television) play just fine on my Mac mini Core Duo.
