  1. Hey everyone, I cant seem to figure out why after encoding a DVD to AVI using this guide http://www.rita.lt/guides/GKnot_DVDtoAVI.htm I get a green screen?? The sound works fine but I have no video. Right now I am using DivX 6 codec, Could that be the problem?

Any help is much appreciated, please I am a newb at this so if you need any specifications of the file information when encoding please dont hesitate to ask and I will retrieve it for you. In the mean time I will try switching to Divx 5 codec and see what happens.

Did you encode to XviD? I think you may have FFDSHOW installed and it's causing the problem. You're better off using the native XviD codec.

  3. No I was encoding it to DivX and it wasnt working, I did uninstall ffdshow and tried again to no avail so I tried Xvid and all works great. Any idea what it could be as to why it doesnt work with DivX?

Which player are you using? Try opening a DivX file with Media Player Classic. While the video is playing, right-click and hover the cursor over "filters". Post which video decoder is being used. I wonder if it's even DivX. Which version of DivX do you have installed?

My guess is that this is a playback problem, not a problem with the encoding. Most likely a codec conflict. Try playing the DivX in VLC
