  1. I want to author some 544x 576 MPEG's to DVD without any re-encoding- Normally, i'd use DVD patcher and TMPGenc DVD Author, but I can't on this job because, for some unknown reason, when I author them in TDA, the sound runs out of sync (it doesn't playback of the original MPEG's).

I've tried the DVD patcher 'fix' with both Nero and the DVd creation in the latest version of Womble MPEG Wizard, but with no luck. Will any other DVD authoring allow me to achieve what I want??

There is a reason they are called non-compliant. DVD Lab Pro will allow some non-compliant material to be authored, but it is predomenantly for SVCD material. Yours is just too far out of spec I suspect. You can try the demo version to see if it helps.

That said, if patching and authoring in TDA gives you out of sync problems, they may be non-compliant in more ways than just resolution, and you may well be better of encoding them as compliant instead.

  3. 544x 576 MPEG sounds like european DVB streams. These kind of material should be demuxed and error corrected with a special dvb demultiplexer like projectx or pvastrumento. The resulting elementary streams should be in sync. You can check it (and even correct a delay) with mpeg2schnitt or cuttermaran. For authoring you can use my GfD program which will accept 544x576 MPEGs without the need to patch anything.
