Hey guys I just tried to burn images using DVD-R disks labled Compusa on them...
and im failing miserably im thinking they are very cheap...

My writer is a Liteon DVD-RW SOHW 1693S

I wanted to know if its better for me to get Taiyo Yuden DVD+R or DVD-R
because im thinking maybe my writer only supports dvd+r ??

If thats the case where can i find the best prices on REAL GENUINE DVD+R TAIYO YUDEN DISKS??

I use TY 16X -R, but my burner can use both. For decent prices on TY +- check Rima: http://www.rima.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv

Check your burner's media compatibility in 'DVD Writers' to the left. It should be able to use either + or - media.

Compusa dvd media is crappy to use. Check out the LITEON FORUM at Cdfreaks.com. As redwudz mentioned TAIYO YUDEN media from Rima.com is good to use.

Lite-On burners tend to do well with Mitsubish/Verbatim DVD-R media.

  5. Keep in mind, most standalone DVD players seem to like DVD-R more then DVD+R... Ive had some compatibility issues when dealing with DVD+R and certain standalone players...

  6. I'd recommend Taiyo Yuden DVD+R 8x (YUDEN02) from Rima. Be sure to use a booktype utility with these.
Also, try burning your CompUsa media at a lower speed (8x) if you haven't already.
