  1. I have a Sanyo DWM-370 DVD Player, which should play VCD's from CD-R or CD-RW according to manuf. info and posts on this site.

I've used TMPGenc to convert the .avi to MPEG-2,
used VCDEasy to author and burn the file once as an SVCD and twice as a VCD...
I put the CD-R or CD-RW into the DVD Player and it shows it's a VCD, but when I push play all I get is a blue screen.

The SVCD test from here worked perfectly... but it had an auto-burn with Adaptec, so I didn't learn much from it.

I would greatly appreciate any pointers or direction on what I may be doing incorrectly. Thanks very much!

Try making a VCD first and if you really want to make SVCD's then only do so once you have mastered regular VCD's.
Your post implies that you are trying to make a VCD from a MPG-2 file. You should be making a VCD from a MPG-1 file.
