I can connect my PB with a display adapter that allows for the display to show up on a TV monitor, but no sound (I believe, even with an S video cable). Is there a way to also transmit sound from my PB to the TV, a Sony Bravia?

Apologies for this perhaps obvious question.

    Thanks for any hints.

    You'd need a RCA audio-out or a y-cable.

The adapter I have that came with my PB allows one to connect an S cable or an RCA (yellow) cable to a video input. My old tv did not have the S cable option. Of course this one does. I am assuming of course--I'm not certain correctly-- that the S cable feed from the computer does not transmit audio. So, do i have to do without audio? The only audio output on the computer i have is for ear phones. I suppose i can get an adaptor that allows for this small diameter "female"audio jack to expand into a larger "male" audio jack that I can then plug into an RCA cable that divides into L and R components to feed into a TV audio L and R inputs (I am not sure if that's what you refer to by the y cable?) Is this the way to go even if I use the S video component?

    Hopefully I made myself clear.

    Thanks much.

    You need one of these:

It's a 3.5 mm (1/8 inch) stereo phone plug to stereo RCA jacks. A 'Y' splitter will just give you one channel. I assume your TV has stereo inputs, then this is what you need. You use regular RCA cables to extend it. There are other versions that are one piece or some that may be long enough to go to the TV with out extensions.

These are common adapters. A audio/stereo store should have them, or you can find them at many department stores.

Thank you so much redwudz. I will get on trying to find these somewhere, probably on the net first. And I assume you're right that my phone jack on my PB is 3.5 mm? It certainly looks about that wide in diameter. Thanks a lot.
