Dear Friends,
Hi.We are doing DVD Authoring.Currently we are using Spruce DVD Authoring Solution. We want to put one more Authoring Solution.Since Spruce is no longer available we are thinking for other options.
We are thinking for Sonic Solutions. But the Encoder itself is very expencive yet after so many years. So before we get into this we thought of taking opinion from you all.
Please advice what are the options we can get in.We need Encoder for Video and Audio with 2 channel and 5.1 also.We already have Spruce Maestro with Premastering tools licenced version with 3 extra dongles.
Also intrested in Spruce Encoders if anybody wants to sell.
Thanking you all for your time.
Zerohash.

Dvd Studio Pro and Dvd Lab are both very good with many options, but the best is still scenarist despite the price and the latest version lets you author Dvd, HD-Dvd and Blu-Ray so your future proofed for a few years

It all depends on how advanced you want to get. I really like to use Ulead DVD Workshop 2 and suggest it highly. It cannot do everything, but it can do most things for most needs, including all basic and most advanced ones.
I would advise against DVD-Lab, it has many bugs and other issues that make it useless for professional work.
Should DVDWS2 prove too limited, then get a Mac with DVD Studio Pro. I know of no other alternatives (current software) aside from Scenarist ($$$$$) that is expansive in abilities and options.
But I get the feel you're fine with your authorware, you're wanting encoders. In that case, do you need a hardware or integrated solution? Something like Canopus Procoder 2 ($600) is an excellent pro-quality encoder.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

My suggestion would be an Optibase Mpeg2 Mac encoder (DE) , a dolby digital hardware encoder (for 5.1 if needed - the optibase does 2 channel)
DVD Studio Pro (the above card/encoder integrates w/ DVD Studio Pro)
OR
a sonic SD2000 with built in 5.1 encoder and scenarist (this system comes as a prebuilt system)
for the encoder - a lot depends on what your source is -- tape ? what type ? etc .... is it already edited ? mastered ?

Dear Friends,
We are doing professional DVD Authoring. We need somthing of Sonic level.Do u have any other options? We need something similar to Spruce or Sonic.I already have Spruce S/W so i only need a good Encoder with 5.1 option.
Thanks.

"similar to Spruce or Sonic"
why not just get the sonic SD2000 then ? or see my other suggestion above -- unless you want to pay double to 10 times as much, sonic and optibase are both very pro level encoders .. they are made for sdi to mpeg ....
as i stated before -- your source would dictate what sort of encoder you are needing ..."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650)
