    Hello,
I have been fighting my computer for a while now over codecs. Right now I have NO codec packs installed.
I have a DX50 coded clip that I want to use in virtualdub and avisynth, and I use avisynth with media player classic. The clip works fine in divx player but did not work in any of the 3 other programs. I installed ffdshow and it then worked in virtualdub but then NOTHING worked in MPC. No matter what file extension it had, MPC would crash if I tried to play any video, so I uninstalled ffdshow and MPC worked again. What went wrong?

what version of ffdshow? you can try some different versions from http://www.free-codecs.com/FFDShow_download.htm or the older versions from http://ffdshow.sourceforge.net/tikiwiki/tiki-index.php?page=Getting+ffdshow
