    Hey,

I recently got rid of my old TV as the scart sockets were extremely loose and cables kept falling out. Anyway, my "new" TV, is one handed down to us from my girlfriends mum. Anyway, whenever I try to play a DVD, the TV switches to AV and comes up with a perfect picture...only that its not in full colour, but Green & Black.

Im sure theres a simple answer...only I dont know it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Chris

Yes I am - I checked before posting as I considered that as a problem.

The DVD player I am using is a Playstation 2.

    Any ideas are most welcome

    Thanks,
    Chris

is it only with AV or with all the channels (BBCs, ITV, etc)?

if its all and the TV is a cathode ray, i would say your blue tube is broken...it sounds like it's only mixing red and green...

I noticed when I was setting up the progressive scanning and widescreen settings on my DVD player that I got false colours - in my case too much red. I would go through the set-up sequence for the video feed again.

Try to rule out the cables and the DVD player.

You can do this by ...

1.) Hook up your DVD player to the TV with a different set of cables.
2.) Hook up another DVD player to your TV with the same cables and then again with different cables.
3.) Hook up your DVD player to a different TV with the same cables and then again with different cables.

Remember the problem could be your DVD player ... the cables ... or the TV itself (bad input).

If the problem is a bad input on the TV then you are probably screwed.

    *** EDIT ***
Also try with the DVD player(s) in both progressive scan (on) and progressive scan (off) modes.

It sounds to me as if the DVD player is set to S-video output and the TV is set to composite colour input.
