ConvertXToDVD should be fine for easy conversion to DVD.

I use WinDV to transfer the DV from the camera to the computer, then VirtualDub Mod for editing and filtering, if needed. I usually save out the audio as a WAV file, then convert that to AC3 with ffmpeggui. I encode the DV video only to MPEG-2 with TMPGEnc encoder. Next I author to DVD format with TMPGEnc DVD Author, adding in the AC3 audio.

But try ConvertXToDVD first. The other method will give you better quality and more control, but you have to do a little more studying to get it all working for you. Either way, WinDV is one of the best for the transfers.

You will need a Firewire cable and a Firewire card in your computer. For the Firewire cable, the camera end is usually a mini Firewire 4 pin plug and the computer end is a regular 6 pin Firewire plug. Very common cable.

All these programs have guides available in our 'HOW TO' section and many are freeware. VirtualDub is a great DV editor and filter. You can also frameserve the output directly to your encoder, such as TMPGEnc and avoid making an in-between edited version to take up space on your hard drive. BTW, DV is about 13GB per hour, so have plenty of hard drive space available.

    And welcome to our forums.
