    Hi, i have a freecom FX50 SL dvd burner but it started to get errors in burns, is
    there a way to check if the drive is dead! am using nero 6 last update and it plays
    and rips dvd ok, but just burning them it messed up on the last 10 burns maybe like
    i had about 4 ok burns in the last 14.

    Datawrite Gray (8x) Burned 4x
    Datasafe white printable (8x) Burned 4x
    Poundland CmC (8x) Burned 4x

    The first two things I would try is, different media, different burning program. Media can be inconsistent, even within a package. You could use DVD Decrypter or the newer IMGBurn and see if that makes any difference.

    If no luck with either of those, try cleaning the laser lens.

    You didn't say how the burns failed. Wouldn't play or just stopped in the middle of a burn? Nero should have given you a log if it failed in the burn. If they wouldn't play, try doing a scan of the DVD. What are you playing them on? A standalone or the PC?

    well the disk burn till the end and nero says that it has failed with funny looking ring in the discs,
    i never tryed any of the discs in a dvd player, as i guess they will not work, the DVD burner is a USB2
    one if that helps! also i use about 6 or 7 other disc makes and still the same.
