I have a pioneer 220 and when I record a show from "Spike TV" from basic cable, I get some kind of interference/macrovision. I do not know if it a problem with the dvr tuner or what. I have an high end jvc and the avt-8710. What is the best way to hook these up to my tv to bypass this problem?

What does the interference look like? Herring bone pattern? Sparkles? If it was copy protection on the show, the recorder would tell you it can't copy the show. You have to be specific....

I have had issues with some channels having a weak signal, I purchased a Motorola signal booster and it did wonders for the weak channels I had. Made everything crisp and clear. I got mine on amazon a while back, not sure where to get them currently. -
My hookup right now is cable into my jvc vcr, then into my recorder, and finally my tv.

Eliminate the VCR from the connections and see if it does better Cable to Recorder to TV
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD! -
Also check the routing of the cables - keep them away from other cables and devices. And keep wireless access points for a home network away from the setup.
Good shielded cables might be needed but I try to avoid things like spending $ on Monster cables if I can get away with regular quality.Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin' -

For Info
I have a fairly extensive system that rums along with wireless equipment. I use regular composit RCA connections with standard cables, I fact, part of my set up is with "Phono" cables in the video jacks and do not see any difference [thick or thin]
I do not have any interference or problems
Of corse your problem could be a bum cable [ as bad connection]
As to theAVT-8710
I do not have one, Tnis is supposed to be a fulll frame TBC of good quality. It should eliminate MV. It has been claimed to also remove other CP.
This unit should be connected directly to the signal source and than to the recorder.
---- signal --- AVT-8710 --- Recorder ----TV?
It should remove MV. Other CP I don't know. I have my doubt's When you say some kind of interference It sounds as though you may be runnig into another form of CP
If you take the 8710 out of the system and have the same problem, than take out the rcorder,
If the program now works ok, Ishould think your problem is a form of CP that is not removed -
I eliminated the vcr from the setup and I still get the same problem. I have also tried different coaxial cables, with no luck.
I don't think I can run my cable signal into my AVT. The AVT does not have a coaxial input. Is there another way to hook up my TBC to see if it removes the suspected macrovision. I have a feeling that my pioneer has a faulty tuner.
