Right here we go again!
I have footage where i would like to remove the cable that was rigged to the person for the stunt.
I have the original take, a take of the back ground scene (without the actors) And was considering a green screen effort too...
How do i remove this unwanted "part" of my footage..
I use premiere and have recently got vegas (and dont like it) but will appreciate any helpfull suggestions with either product

There are rig removal plugins for after efects (can't think of a name off hand, but I remember seeing some), or specialist software such as Mokey. Otherwise you will have to roto them out (paint out by hand). You might be able to clean up large chunks with garbage mattes in after effects or similar, then clean up the rest with hand drawn masks.
Neither Premiere or Vegas is appropriate for this type of work. Ther are editors with extra features, not specialist effects and compositing applications.
Can you post a screen shot or two to show how much work needs to be done ?
A little light reading for you

Thanks guns1inger once again.. you have helped me on more then one post.
I have done this before with photoshop on each frame and that was a mission!
At the moment I have been using the background scene take and using the mask filter on the footage to reveal what was behine the rope... of course though, this doesn't work for footage with camera movement...
Any other suggestions are welcome -
After Effect 6.5 and 7 have a clone brush similar to photoshop, but for motion. There was a demo where they used it to remove a car from a racing track while the camera panned around to follow it. I think this is your best bet.

If you are finance bound (and who isn't) this might be worth a look -> http://www.jahshaka.org/ it is an open source effect program with an interface that looks suspiciously like Autodesk's Combustion. It has a built in paint module amongst other things. They are working on the final release candidates for version 2 at the moment. The price is certainly right.

Thank you, I think thats more like what I'm after..
Add Note:
Yes the price of this gear is unreasonable, especially so when you consider the lack of flexability around codecs and advanced effects. it costs good money for plugins that allow you to do things that this software should do already.. -
shake and digitalfusion are specially great at this
