  2. There are several. But understand that xVCD simple means non-standard VCD. Not better quaility! Sefy's templates are popular and can be found under the Tools section to the left. To make your own xVCD do a search or take a look at:

Dug, the Sonys throw a wobbly if you do anything other than change the bitrate value or resolution for VCD.

Best thing to do is to load up the standard VCD template in TMPGENc and then load the UNLOCK.MCF template to unlock the settings.

Use the bitrate calculator on this site to work out a Constant Bitrate which will fill two (or three?) CDs. Then bump up the bitrate in TMPGEnc to the value specified.

You may also like to play with the resolution settings but I would suggest that you start off with the bitrate change first and then move on later.

  5. Dug, just to warn you but you can get great quality by converting something but the better the quality to more hours it's going to take to convert.

  7. I've recently encoded several 352x240-captured and rendered MPEG-1's (using Pinnacle Studio 7) into 720x480's using TMPGEnc and the quality is somewhat better than the 352x240 was.

See the tutorial at http://www.vcdhelp/.com/tmpgencxvcd.htm .
