This is my first post in videohelp's forum even though I have been a long loyal visitor to video help. I had to register due to a MKV to DVD conversion problem that kept me from sleeping at night. I have read all the guides, followed all the steps, downloaded numerous programs that supposely convert mkv, but despite my efforts, I failed miserably. Ok, here is the down and dirty of the problem, I had a file called TaichiMaster in MKV format. Here is the image

I want to burn to dvd to watch on my stand alone player, most of the guide here showed how to convert mkv into .avi, so I thought I should go that route. Now here is the best part, first I downloaded virtualdubmod to follow Balrick's guide, here is the image of the error I received

After some more researchs, I found out that virtualdubmod does not support VFR. I used matroska's diagnostic tool to find this out Hence the VFW mode and H264 codecs. After the initial try, I used MKVextractGUI to extract the movie and 2 aac sound track, 1 for english, the other for chinese, the (vobsub) file can't be regcognize by mkvextract so I changed it to .srt, don't know if it is going to work or not, but that is another story. Notice the files after being extracted, the .srt file by jet li I put in there by accident. Finally, I tried using Graphedits by following the guide in videohelp, half of the filter that used in the guide were not in there, or at least I didn't see it. Also there are arguments that using graphedits is only changing the file extension, so I don't know who's right and who's wrong.

This is my first .mkv file by the way, so I don't really know too much about it, that why I registered and turn to y'all for some enlightment. I know that by using ffdvideo and ffdsound that are installed in my computer as video and sound renderers I can watch .mkv all day long, but I don't have that program install in my DVD players, so please help, I love the movie and really want to do this. Also, Auto loading Direct vob sub means that the subtitle always gonna show when I play my DVD? If so, is the a filter for switchable sub. Thank you all for responding and solutions.
