I want to burn my video capture from my DV camcorder to a DVD disk and show it in better quality on my TV than 480i offers. I have a Samsung HLR5067W with HDMI and its native resolution is 720p. I don't want to reduce the resolution of the DV caputure to 480i and then upconvert. Can I save the capture to high quality DIVX and maintain most of the original resolution - at least much more than 480i. My present DVD player won't handle it, but I'd buy an Oppo 970 or 971 if it could get better resolution. I'd like to know my alternatives. I'd rather not keep the finished product as avi, as I want to reduce file size...so sending the signal from my PC to the Tv is not a consideration. Any suggestions?![]()

720x480 DV capture becomes 640x480 on your TV (when authored as DVD). If you have a means of connecting your computer to your TV, 640x480 is as good as it gets with your source material.
