    Hi,
got some Super-8 films (externally) digitised. Following are the Info I got got through application of Mediainfo:

    General
    Format: AVI
    Format_Profile: OpenDML
    Filesize/String: 9.46 GiB
    Duration/String: 24mn
    Overallbitrate/String: 55.5 Mbps

    Video
    Format: M-JPEG
    CodecID: MJPG
    With/String: 1920 pixels
    Heights/String: 1080 pixels
    DisplayAspectRatio/String: 16:9
    Framerate/String: 25.000 fps
    Resolution/String: 24 bits
    Scantype/Sring Interlaced
    Bits-(Pixels*Frame) 1070

    I got two questions:
    1) I would like to play it back through a MediaBox onto a HDTV. I tried several (WD, EMTEC...) but always "incompatible Format". The only way I can look at it is through the "Windows Media Player" on my Computer. Without loosing the digitised Quality what could I do?
    2) I used at first Sony Vegas Platnium 9.0 and it could not read the file. Finally Sony proposed to go up to Sony Vegas Pro. With this Program it worked, but this Program is however 5 times pricier. It is a nice programm, but I think there might be other Tools to handle my three converted Super-8 films. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    P.S. Diskspace is available

a couple free encoder front ends to try - mediacoder and handbrake. i'd try encoding to h264 .mp4 file at 1920x1080p 25fps. the tricky part may be de-interlacing and converting to progressive. interlaced was a bad choice for whoever made the mjpegs.

I would convert to a mp4 with h264 video, use free tools like handbrake, avidemux, xvid4psp. Or maybe convert to wmv hd using windows media encoder, windows movie maker.

Hi thanks for your hints. -- First I used windows movie maker. It reduced the resolution but gave progressive scans. I did not find wmd hd. Do I have to download it?

Than I rendered the same file with Sony Vegas Pro three ways: (Sony-) AVC, mp4 and m2ts. It took certainly some time but worked without loss in quality but still interlaced. Is there any easy way to get progressive scanning?

The other proposed tools I will use after the holydays.

    greetings hoshopapa
