  1. I usually record movies from cable using Prolink Pixelview PlayTV@P7000 and bundled software Black Gold. The video captured is in MPEG II format and is of good quality and practically there is not loss in quality when compared with the TV. I am using Ulead Video Studio 10 Plus for editing ie. cutting off the ads and combining the video clips together to write to a DVD. When I play the DVD on my home DVD player, there is no lips syn problem for the first 60 mins but the problem surfaces later on till the end of the movie. I checked the total video footage captured on my harddisk in MPEG II format and there is no lips syn problem. To check the problem whether the problem exists while editing/mixing in Ulead Video Studio 10 Plus, I made a video file instead of writing to the DVD media and I found there is no problem. I am unable to understand why the problem arises when I write to the DVD media. Can anyone advise me how to prevent lips syn problem when I write to DVDs ? I have tried all tests and the problem arises only when I write to DVDs.

When the sync problem happens in the DVD, does it gradually get worse toward the end or does it have the same amount of sync error toward the end? If it gradually gets worse, the audio/video length may differ. If it is the same amount of error, then you may have missing video or audio sections that is causing it. This usually happens in editing.

Normally authoring a DVD should have no effect on the sync. Authoring just organizes the files into the DVD format and shouldn't be changing them. It sounds like your authoring program is making some changes in the file. You might try authoring the MPEG-2 with a different program and see it that helps. DVDAuthorgui is freeware and one to try. Or try TMPGEnc DVD Author. It has a trial version. At least you may find out where the sync problem comes from.
