  1. I'm not asking about my DVD Player and what works with it but...
Can DVD Players (in general) play MPGs? I want to convert some DivX movies to "VCD" like I've done for my DreamCast and they are .mpg Can any DVD Players play them?

Also how do I get them to play? Do they load automatically?

    Thanks for answering these!!

All DVD players play MEPG movies - DVD movies are MPEG2 encoded after all. However, the mpegs have to be acceptable to the player. If the mpeg is encoded any other way than what the player will accept as playable (in that the bitrate and resolution is in acceptable parameters etc.), then it wont play it. I beleive that some players can play straight .mpg files (not burned as VCD/SVCD), dont ask me which ones though. Anyways, the .mpg still has to be acceptable to the player even if it will play .mpgs straight off a non standard burnt disk. Divx encoded videos will not play, you will have to convert to a VCD compliant .mpg.
In most cases you will have to burn the correct format CD as well (Ie. VCD/SVCD). You cant just get any old .mpg and burn it as a CDROM and expect it to play.
